UPDATE: Man Arrested After Shooting Girlfriend in Odessa

A man was arrested Saturday after shooting his girlfriend, Odessa Police said.
UPDATE: Eric Holguin was indicted for manslaughter, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and family violence.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A man was arrested Saturday after shooting his girlfriend, Odessa Police said.

The shooting happened Friday night but police arrested Eric Holguin, 24, Saturday for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

His girlfriend, Angelica Kimberly-Michelle Root, 23, was found by authorities at the 900 block of West 23rd Street.

She was shot one time, according to police, and was transported to Medical Center Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Holguin was transported to the police station and interviewed by detectives, Odessa Police said.

He was later taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
