Local Company Fights Oilfield Theft

Finley Investigations & Security works to solve theft cases, prevent them before they start
Midland -- Just like the oilfield, Finley Investigations and Security is booming. In fact, owner Tom Finley says he gets calls regarding theft on a daily basis. but he is definitely up for the challenge.

Before he started his private investigation firm, Finley worked in local, state, and county law enforcement for a quarter century. He was appointed as director of the Permian Basin Drug Task Force in 1988, where he served for ten years. "When the state shut down the task forces, I thought this would be a good business," recalled Finley.

He started the private investigation company in 1998 with one employee. It's since grown to over 60. And today, they do a lot more than investigate theft cases, they try to keep thieves at bay before they have a chance to strike.

"One thing that we've added in the past few years is our security company where we have security guards at locations," said Finley.

They also offer camera systems to monitor businesses and oilfield equipment. But should a crook strike calling for an investigation, rest assured Finley and his team are always prepared. In fact, he says it's the best part of his job. "Solving a case. Finding something that they've lost. Feel like we do some good for somebody.
