Huge Growth in the City of Andrews

The city of Andrews is seeing a huge growth.

Within the next few months they are expecting almost ten new businesses. This week they will open a new truck stop and McDonald’s.

“I kind of like our small town atmosphere,” said Scott Wallace, Director of Community Development in Andrews. “But it's also good that our economy is growing and it's benefitting the citizens of Andrews.”

Among the new businesses is a Denny’s, a car dealership, a convenience store and hotels.

“So much growth like that I think just gives everybody the opportunity to have a job and to participate in our community,” Wallace said.

The truck stop hired 16 new employees and the McDonald’s hired 71 new employees.

“I believe the town of Andrews is excited to have a McDonald's here,” said the store’s general manager, Melissa Gillham. “I think we are expecting a huge turnout.”

But Wallace said the growth in businesses also brings “good problems” to the city.

“It also requires us to come up with some housing for all of those folks,” Wallace said.

And rumors of even more openings are always going around in the City of Andrews.
