For the last 10 years HCCMidland has provided the workshop to all students in mastering the art of Mariachi.

The 3 day workshop focuses on perfecting their music, style and encourages the heart in continuing this beautiful culture.

On Friday, at Midland High School Auditorium the "Noche de Mariachi Concert" will begin at 7:00pm.

The concert will showcase all the students who participated in the workshop and will end with the Mariachi de Estrella (a group made up of students from the workshop).

Special guest this year is Midland's own Ben Ozuna and of course the Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland Ballet Folklorico "Nuestra Herencia." The concert prices are $7.00 and children 8 and under are free.

The workshop will be instructed by Mariachi Tenampa from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cost is $85 per student; $150 for directors.

Workshops will be on instruments used for Mariachi groups: violin, guitar, trumpet, vihuela and guitarron. Student must be able to read sheet music and bring their own instrument. Voice workshops will be provided for participants. Workshops are for grades 5 through college level.
