Heavy Rain Possible Today, Continuing Into Tomorrow 9-19-13

An 80% coverage of showers and storms will give way to a 60% chance tomorrow
Today...

Rain has been steadily falling across the area since before daybreak, and some areas in the Trans-Pecos were up over half an inch by 11am.

Expect the rain to continue to expand today, and we'll see about an 80% coverage throughout the day.

Areas to the west will not see as much, generally staying below an inch in SE New Mexico, while the Central Permian Basin could see as much as an inch and a half.

Eastern Permian Basin will be the main recipient, with areas such as Big Lake and Garden City getting possibly 2 inches or more.

Cloud cover will be prevalent through the day and temperatures will stay in the 70's for the most part across the area.

Tonight...

Storms continue as tropical moisture continues to stream in from Hurricane Manuel.

Coverage will be lesser, but the rain should continue into the morning hours.

Tomorrow...

Storms continue as a cold front enters the area during the day and provides more lift for thunderstorm activity.

Tomorrow's coverage: about 60%.

With the 2 full days of rain possibilities, we are under a flash flood watch that covers the entire area.

It expires tomorrow night at 7.

The only counties excluded from the watch are Lea and Eddy Counties.

Temperatures don't move much behind the front and tomorrow should be another day in the upper 70s.

Weekend...

Behind the cold front, high pressure settles back in and we clear out and reach back into the 80's under mostly sunny skies.

By next week we look for temperatures back into the 90s under sunny skies.
