Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in Permian Basin, More Rain Possible 10-13-13

After several hours of heavy rainfall, the Permian Basin could be seeing even more rain this week.
Sunday we saw widespread heavy rainfall across the Permian Basin, leading to flash flooding and standing water in many streets around Midland and Odessa.

Here are some of the preliminary rainfall totals:

Big Spring:                 2.42"
Lomax, Howard Co:      2.43"

Midland International:  1.42"
Midland 4ENE Co-op:   2.05"
Midland RAWS:           1.81"
Midland Airpark:          1.30"

Odessa Schlemeyer: 2.09"

Seminole:               2.12"

We hang on to rain chances into Monday as well, thanks to continued tropical moisture from remnants of Tropical Storm Octave and a stationary front across the area.

Cloud cover and rain chances stick with us Tuesday (30%) and Wednesday (20%), while a cold front moves through leaving us with below-average temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 60s - low 70s with lows dropping into the 40s and 50s.

Remember, if you have photos of the weather, post them on the Big 2 Facebook page (www.facebook.com/KMIDBig2).
