Gathering Place Bringing Attention to Deaf Awareness Week in Alpine

May 19th-23rd marks Deaf Awareness Week for the Big Bend region.
ALPINE: May 19th-23rd marks Deaf Awareness Week for the Big Bend region. On Monday May 19 there will be an open house at the Casner Building. On May 20 Kristine Woosley will be doing story time at the Alpine Public Library at 4pm. She will be using American sign language to retell the story of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”. Joyce Page will be interpreting. On May 21 Rebecca Hernandez, a hearing loss resource specialist, will be conducting a workshop from 2-4pm at the Casner Building. SCHEDULE:
Monday, May 19 will be our Open House from 6-8 pm with information about deaf / hard of hearing issues at the Casner Building 301 W Holland Av Alpine

Tuesday, May 20 will be a children's ASL program at the Alpine Library

Wednesday, May 21, Rebecca Hernandez of the DARS Deaf and Hard of Hearing Division will be at Sul Ross University at the High School Transition Fair in the morning, and then she will hold a informational workshop about technology in hearing devices at 1:00 pm at the Casner Building 301 W Holland Alpine.

Thursday, May 22, Communicating with the deaf and hard of hearing at 7:00 pm at the Casner
