Flood concerns linger, chances for rain return to Basin

Flooding rains in parts of West Texas and Southeast New Mexico.
An upper level cut-off low is funneling in moisture, feeding the flooding rains in and around Carlsbad, Artesia and the Guadalupe Mountains.

Here are the latest warnings and advisories from the National Weather Service:

Flood Advisory for parts of Eddy Co. & northern Culberson Co. until 9:15 CDT
Flood Warning for Dark Canyon Draw at Carlsbad until late Friday afternoon

Here are some of the dramatic rainfall totals (preliminary):

GUADALUPE BOWL RAWS             12.23"    
PINE SPRINGS GMNP                   10.35"    
DOG CANYON RAWS                      9.50"   
MCKITTRICK CANYON                    7.83"       

Do not cross water-covered roads. Turn around, don't drown!

In the Central Basin, highs today were in the 80s and low 90s.

Friday will be similar.

We are tracking a cold front that is expected to drop into our region and bring us a chance of isolated storms on Saturday (20%).

Sunday's chances are minimal at 10%.

Rain chances increase on Monday and Tuesday to 20%.

Highs next week will be in the upper 80s with lows in the upper 60s.
