ECISD Accountability Ratings Improve

Ector County Independent School Districts Accountability Ratings show marked improvement for schools across the district.
ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- Ector County Independent School Districts Accountability Ratings show marked improvement for schools across the district.

The ratings highlight the fact 13 of 21 schools placed on STAAR's Improvement Required list, a year ago, are now off that list.

During a press conference Thursday, Superintendent Tom Crowe, celebrated the improvements made and identified challenges that lie ahead for the district.

The STAAR Accountability Systems measure students across four areas which include: Student Achievement, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness.

Seven schools from Ector county still remain on the Improvement Required list and will have to be reconstituted: Burleson, Johnson, Noel, Ross, San Jacinto, Zavala, and Ector Junior High.

One school, John B. Hood, is Improvement Required for a third year in a row and must appear before the Commissioner of Education.

The 13 schools now off the Improvement Required list include: Gale Pond Alamo, Austin, Burnet, Cameron, Fly , Goliad, Milam, Pease, Sam Houston, Travis , Bonham Junior High, Nimitz Junior High and New Tech Odessa.

Superintendent Crowe says the district plans to stay the course in order to improve, not adding things but working to continue to improve and refine the work that is already being done.
