A couple is under arrest accused of severely injuring a child.
ECTOR COUNTY -- A couple is under arrest accused of severely injuring a child.

Here is the full release from the Ector County Sheriff's Office:  

Two people have been arrested and charged with Injury to a child, a felony in the first degree.

Both subjects were arrested at approximately  6:30 p.m. this evening without incident.

Both are being booked into the Ector County Detention Center at this time.

Recommended bonds are set for each at $150,000.00 .

As you may recall the Sheriff's office received information regarding possible injury to a child on Saturday December 14th.

A clerk at a local store overheard a women shopping there make verbal threats to her child and when she left the store got the vehicle tag number and called law enforcement officers.

The vehicle was located and stopped a short time later and officers observed a child that needed medical attention and was transported to Medical Center Hospital for observation and treatment and was later moved to a Lubbock hospital.

James Carroll and Tonya Carroll were arrested at that time for outstanding warrants for theft out of another county.

The subjects posted bail and were released on the theft charges but investigation continued on the possible injury to a child.

A search warrant was drawn up and executed for their residence in South Ector County.

Both subjects were arrested today and charged with Injury to a child, a felony one.
