ODESSA -- Celebrations and tributes for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were held across Odessa on Monday.

The Black Cultural Council of Odessa hosted a weekend of celebration that concluded with a Freedom March. Participants marched from the Southside Senior Citizen Center to the Woodson Community Center.

Organizers say they were really impressed by the youth turn out this year.

"The dream continues to live," said Hubert Collins. "We've got to continue to plant seeds throughout each generation."

Una Voz Unita hosted a reading of Dr. King's historic "I have a dream" speech. Dr. King delivered the speech back in 1963 on the March on Washington.

Monday, organizers recited the famous speech on the Ector County Courthouse Lawn. Organizers say the purpose of the event was to reflect on MLK's life and legacy.
