Casa de Amigos Celebrates 50 Years

The public is invited to attend Casa de Amigos' 50th Anniversary!
MIDLAND -- The public is invited to attend Casa de Amigos' 50th Anniversary! It's a free event! A proclamation by Midland Mayor Jerry F. Morales will declare May 22nd, 2014 to be “Casa de Amigos” day followed by the Midland Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event includes children’s activities, informational displays on educational, social service and senior programs, health screenings, a performance by the Hispanic Cultural Center’s folkloric dancers and a special visit by characters Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf from Frozen. Refreshments will be served. Cilla's Magical World will be in charge of getting the Frozen characters to West Texas. (Cilla's Magical World throws fairytale parties for kids usually between the ages of 3-6. Cilla's has contracted actors who play the parts of your child's favorite character!)

Children’s activities include face painting, a jumbo jumper with slide and obstacle course and caricatures by artist Stan Jacobs. Animal rescue organizations will have pets for adoption. Health screenings include kidney screenings, blood pressure, glucose, pulse oxygen and vision. We will have information on our Senior Center programs, Take 2 Job Skill Training program and Midland College. Our education programs include information on GED, ESL, Financial Literacy and Citizenship classes. The Education Station program provides homework assistance, tutoring, extra-curricular activities and access to a complete resource library.
