Odessa, TX (Local Big 2 News) - Tonight is a night of remembrance.

A night to celebrate Jeffery Patrick, who lost his life while walking across w university in Odessa on May 28th.

"He loved getting down with the guys. He loved music like no other," said David Stice, one of Patrick's best friends.

Patrick's parents say he had a gift for music with talents of playing the drums, guitar and dejaying

His aunt Glenda Davidson remembers his joyful personality.

"He'd laugh, happy and outgoing. He's knock on my door hollering, "Aunt Glenda are you home?" Davidson said.

Stice was at the scene of the accident.

He tells me while Patrick was legally blind, he was still able to look up at Stice and say his last words.

"And he went with a smile, that was a beautiful smile on his face, saying he's on his way to a stairway to heaven is the way I look at that," Stice said.

Donya Hines knew Patrick since childhood and she helped to organize Friday night's candlelight vigil.

"For one, I don't think Jeff realized how many people cared and loved him," Dines said.

While Patrick's mother is devastated over the loss, she's happy for this opportunity to celebrate the life of her son.

"I will get to meet a bunch of his friends that I didn't know. And I think he would be very happy," said Elva Blackmon, Patrick's mother.

A Facebook memorial page was set up for friends and family to remember Patrick.

"A lot of good rock and roll and a lot of good times. He'll be greatly missed," Stice said.

Patrick leaves behind his parents, sister and brother, and his daughter.
