A man was arrested in Big Spring after stealing a car, leading authorities on a chase and engaging in a brief standoff with a sheriff.

Michael Fossee stole a Cadillac from 87 Auto Sales on Feb.26 at around noon. To steal the car he showed his firearm and fired two rounds inside the building, the sheriff’s office said.

A Sheriff dispatched to the business caught up to Fossee while driving northbound on N. Hwy 87.

According to the sheriff’s office, Fossee was driving at more than 100 miles per hour.

The sheriff chased Fossee until he stopped at Boyce Galvanizing Plant in the 4000 blk. of N. Hwy 87.

Fossee left the car with a semi-automatic firearm. He went inside Boyce Galvanizing Plant. More than 15 employees were at the plant and managed to escape through the back door, authorities said.

After a short standoff, the sheriff was able to talk Fossee out of the building, where he surrendered.

Fossee has been charged with Aggravated Robbery. It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
