A 4 in 10 chance for showers and thunderstorms on Monday as a cold front presses into the Permian Basin, colliding with warm and humid air in place. Any storms that form could produce briefly heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning. Temperatures will be cooler today, only in the upper 80's for high temperatures in Midland. Skies clear off from north to south on Tuesday, with the risk for showers and storms remaining over the mountains. Under a mostly sunny sky, temperatures rebound through the week, returning to the triple digit readings by the end of the week.
