Arrest Made in Odessa Stabbing

Update: Suspect in custody for early morning stabbing. The Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to 4555 East University in reference to a stab victim early Friday morning.
UPDATE: Odessa police say Martin Minjarez is now in the custody of US Marshals.

UPDATE - An arrest has been made in connection to a stabbing that occurred in a parking lot in the 4500 block of East University. Martin Minjarez has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a 2nd Degree Felony. Minjarez is currently in custody at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

ODESSA -- The Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to 4555 East University in reference to a stab victim early Friday morning. Upon arrival, the victim was identified as Brian Rodriguez, 19 years of age.

Investigation revealed that Rodriguez had been stabbed in the lower back with a knife. Rodriguez was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury. Officers notified the Crimes Against Persons, Robbery/Homicide Unit, who responded to the scene.

At this time no arrests have been made in connection to the stabbing. However, a suspect has been identified. Anyone with information in reference to this incident is encouraged to call the Odessa Police Department or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.
