Annual Blue Ribbon Run is Saturday

CPS and the Midland County Welfare Board will be hosting the 6th annual Blue Ribbon Run-Race to End Child Abuse on Saturday.
MIDLAND, TX (Big 2 News) -- CPS and the Midland County Welfare Board will be hosting the 6th annual Blue Ribbon Run-Race to End Child Abuse on Saturday.

Here are the full event details from CPS:

Child Protective Services (CPS) investigated more than 160,000 allegations of child abuse or neglect in Texas last year. 156 children died at the hands of their parents or other caregivers, 66,398 were victims of abuse or neglect, and more than 17,000 had to be removed from their homes for their own protection.

CPS and its parent agency, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), have joined hands with the Midland County Child Welfare Board to put the spotlight on preventing, recognizing, and reporting child abuse. The sixth annual Blue Ribbon Run-Race to End Child Abuse is Saturday, May 3rd at Midland College. The 1K begins at 8:00 AM and the 5K begins at 9:00 AM. There will be lots of fun activities for families to participate in and breakfast will be served.

This race is to raise awareness of abuse and neglect and benefits all foster children in Midland County.
