Midland Lee went 9-3 last season, won district, and was an area finalist. 2014 brings a new starting quarterback, senior Jon Schwalbach, who has a clear focus.

"Come out every day and prepare as much as I can. Get timing down and rhythm with everyone else. If we all prepare enough we'll score enough," said Schwalbach.

His coach says he's got perseverance.

"He's bounced back. Quarterbacks have to be resilient. I can't tell you that Jon's had a great practice every practice but what he's continued to do is show up and get better each day," said head coach James Morton.

Running back Aron Dobbins likes what he's seeing.

"He does a great job he works really hard he goes and watches film. He's one of the first guys in and one of the last to leave. He's what you want in a QB," said Dobbins.

Now Schwalbach shares the backfield with Dobbins, a dynamic offensive threat.

"He gets the ball every time wanting to score. Even in practice he runs an extra 20 yards because he wants to score on every play," said Schwalbach.

Even after a successful 2013 season, Dobbins still has this question.

"Can we win a big game? We lost to Southlake Carroll and lost to San Angelo Central in front of huge crowd so can we just lock down and win a big game?" said Dobbins.
