ODESSA -- Tense moments in Odessa this afternoon, after a burglary led to a police standoff in a neighborhood.

Odessa police say that Johnny Phelps burglarized an odessa home and then took off.

However, after police began looking for him, they found his car behind this home on fairmont drive.

Police got permission to go into the home from the homeowner, and that's when police began talking with phelps trying to convince him to surrender.
Phelps said he had injured his back earlier in the day and needed medical help, so he was taken to the hospital.

Police then got a search warrant and went through that room.

Now Phelps is facing charges for the burglary.
