The Andrews Mustangs have one goal, reaching the State title game in 2013. The Mustangs will be a rare breed on offense this season, with returning experience any coach would love to have.
"I've kind of kidded around by saying that I'm probably the only head coach that has two starting quarterbacks returning this year" said Coach Ralph Mason.Quarterback Shane Dolgener added "Run, go fast, boom, boom, boom, boom ya know. Score as much as we can as fast as we can" when talking about the team's offensive plans for this season.
Dolgener will be returning this season after suffering a knee injury a year ago. Jase Hammack, the sophomore who stepped in and led the Mustangs two rounds into the playoffs is only a Junior this year.
Hammack will have a big impact as a wide receiver this season. There's no bitterness between these two as far as who gets the quarterback nod, only friendship and making this season a special one.
"Well it's good because we're always making each other better. If one of us is down we'll pick each other up. Always looking for ways to get better and to help our team win" said Hammack.
A lethal offense and a new defense could allow the Mustangs to make a big impact in District 2-3A, and this team is ready for those challenges and expectations.
"You got to take it game by game, step by step you know. But I think playoffs, district championships, and I think we're in the talks for that."
