Alpine presents the "Shooting Alpine" 2013 Photo & Video Contest

The City of Alpine is pleased to announce their third Shooting Alpine Photo Contest.
ALPINE -- Nestled in the remote foothills of the Davis Mountains in the Big Bend region of Texas, Alpine is at the center of some of the state’s most majestic natural beauty. This year, the City of Alpine is pleased to announce their third Shooting Alpine Photo Contest, with the addition of a new Video Contest component.

Photographers and videographers from across the state are invited to share and showcase their talent, visually capturing Alpine and bringing out the personality of the town in an inspiring way. Online contest entry is already underway. Submissions close September 30, 2013.

"The addition of video opens up some exciting possibilities," said Chris Ruggia, Creative Director for City of Alpine Tourism Promotion. "We're hoping that both locals and visitors will take the opportunity to show us their view of our town in a fun, creative and unexpected way."

The photo and video categories each offer five cash awards with a top prize of $500, and every participant will also be entered into a drawing for the following appreciation prizes: 2 nights at The Maverick Inn; 2 general admission passes to the 2014 Viva Big Bend music festival and a $50 gift certificate for Alpine’s celebrated Reata Restaurant.

The photo contest will be judged by J. Griffis Smith, photo editor for the celebrated Texas Highways magazine. Smith has worked for the magazine for more than 25 years. During his career, he has crisscrossed the state and covered a wide spectrum of subjects, from majestic landscapes to intriguing people who have contributed to the tapestry of Texas culture.

The Shooting Alpine 2013 Photo & Video Contest is free and open to the public. Entries will be accepted online until September 30, 2013. Interested photographers and videographers are invited to go to visitalpinetx.com/photocontest for information, complete rules and details on entering the contest.
