Authorities have not released the name of the 12-year-old suspected of shooting two classmates Tuesday morning in Roswell, but KOAT has learned several things about the boy.
State police said Tuesday that the boy is a seventh-grade student at Berrendo Middle School where the shooting happened.
Police also said they believe the boy concealed a shotgun in a bag before opening fire in the gymnasium.
Action 7 News has learned from neighbors that the boy lives in a home on North Sycamore Court in Roswell.
The boy is also a relative of Albuquerque criminal defense attorney Jason Bowles.
“Right now we don’t know all the facts and circumstances," Bowles said of the shootings. "Our family right now, is prayerful and thinking of the kids that were hurt and their families and praying that God will oversee this situation. Our thoughts and prayers are for those kids that were hurt.”
KOAT has also learned the suspect will be represented by prominent attorney Robert Gorence. He said he will release a statement Wednesday.
KOAT Action 7 News is following this story and will update it as soon as police identify the suspect or release new information about him.
