Same Sex Marriage Legal in Illinois

ILLINOIS -- Same sex marriage became legal in Illinois Wednesday when the governor signed legislation into law. Bishop Thomas Paprocki with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield criticized the move.

"Hopefully the first thing you would see is some change of heart, some sense of repentance and asking for forgiveness. Whether the law changes, I'm not a politician so I'll leave that to the politicians," says Bishop Thomas Paprocki.

Illinois is now the 16-th state to allow same-sex marriages. The law will go into effect next summer.
