ODESSA -- Medical Center Hospital collected donations for the West Texas Food Bank on Friday with a fun twist.
They made it a competition between the hospital departments.
They want to surpass the nearly 6,000 pounds of food they collected last year.
"We have just had an awesome, awesome turnout from our employees as they've all stepped up to the plate to give back to the community they live in," Susan Thornton said. Thornton is the public relations representative for Medical Center Hospital.
According to the West Texas Food Bank, one in four Permian Basin children wake up not knowing where their next meal is coming from.
They're not sure yet whether they beat last years mark of nearly 6,000 pounds.
