Midland, TX (Big 2 News) - Christina Diaz and her three children didn't have great living conditions.

Diaz is a member of Ector County Angels by Grace, both as a volunteer as recipient of help.

Diaz says she was caught by surprise when she learned she was one of the families who would be receiving help.

"I've always been a person that has always wanted to help people. I'e always been the helper, never the "helpee." And, it's different. It's different and it feels good, feels really good," said Diaz.

According to Brandon Van Huss, an organizer with Ector County Angels by Grace, says the charity recently learned about families who had unfit living conditions.

"We found one lady with two sets of twins that had been living in her car for several months. Another lady living in this camper trailer that literally the roof was about to cave in and it was just horrible," Van Huss said.

Saturday afternoon, a number of local organizations from both Midland and Odessa joined forces for a fundraiser to help these families in need.

"We really did not know we were gonna do this until Thursday at 10 o'clock at night and I mean, this is how fast it's came together," Van Huss said.

Those in attendance included Ector County Angels, Looking Up for Hope, Street Fighters, Number One Stunners and the Christian Motorcycle Association.

"I just think it's great the way all these riders came together to help support people in the community that need help. We need more of that."

Van Huss says right now their project goals are to build two homes.

He says it'll be their first trial run to help them figure out the overall costs for future projects.

"Once we get those going and we get those completed, then we'll start looking forward to a bigger project and really see how far we can go with this," Van Huss said.

And Diaz says she couldn't be more thankful.

"Be thankful for everything you have 'cause you never know. Your neighbor might be the one that's in dire need of something," Diaz said.
