Odessa, TX (Big 2 News) - More than a dozen republican candidates, including State Senator Seliger, spoke at a forum held by the Ector County Republican Women this morning.

The primary election is March 4th and this morning at Odessa Regional Medical Center, 18 candidates were able to express the issues they plan to focus on if elected.

US Congressman Mike Conaway and Senator Seliger were both there, as well as a number of state wide and local candidates.

We were able to catch up with Senator Seliger and his challenger.

"Every type of fairly staged forum is important because it gives the candidates a chance to meet people that they may not have met and to let people know about the issues confronting the state of Texas and this part of the state of Texas," Senator Seliger said.

"It's fun to go to these things, it's fun to meet new people, and you hear new ideas, you get new questions.
You hear what the concerns of this district are," said Attorney Mike Cannon.

Election day is March 4th with early voting starting on Feb.18th.

To vote in this year's primary, you must be registered to vote by Feb. 3rd.
