MIDLAND, TX (LOCAL BIG 2 NEWS) -- Midland Police release new details about the deadly truck-train crash.

Officers say Filiberto Baeza, 43, was killed in the crash. Police believe he ran through the crossing guards.

Police say alcohol may have been a possible factor in the crash, but say the investigation is not complete.

A Midland man was pronounced deceased on scene after his truck collided with a moving train Sunday evening.

Filiberto Baeza, 43, was traveling northbound on Terrell Street in a red Ford F-250 at approximately 7:58 p.m. when he ran through the crossing guard arms near Industrial Avenue and was struck by a westbound train. The crossing arms were horizontal and the red emergency lights were flashing at the time of the crash.

Baeza was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Alcohol is being considered as a possible factor in the incident, and the investigation continues. Next of kin has been notified.

A man died after crashing into a train near downtown Midland Sunday, city officials said.

According to authorities, the man was driving north on Terrell Street near Front Street, and disregarded the train crossing.

The train was already on its way and crashed into the car, officials said.

The man died at the scene and his family was notified Sunday.
