Tire Blowout Blamed For Deadly Martin Co. Crash

A tire blowout is blamed for a deadly wreck in Martin County.
MARTIN CO., TX (Local Big 2 News) – A tire blowout is blamed for a deadly wreck in Martin County.

Troopers say George Mutua, 25, was killed in the crash along Highway 349, early Wednesday morning.

Troopers say a tire blow out on another truck caused the vehicle to hit Mutua's truck.

Mutua died on the scene.

Troopers say the driver of the other truck was injured in the crash.

DESCRIPTION:
Unit #1 was traveling southbound on SH 349, near the 308 mile marker. Unit #2 was traveling northbound on SH 349, near the same mile marker. Unit #1 suffered a blow out on the left front tire, causing #1 to veer into the northbound lanes. #1 struck #2 in the front left, causing #2 to go into the east bar ditch, where #2 overturned. The driver of #2 was partially ejected when #2 overturned. #1 came to a stop upright, facing north, in the east bar ditch. #2 came to a stop upright, facing south.
