One Man Leads Authorities Across State Lines In A High Speed Chase

Javier Gomez is now behind bars, facing charges for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest, two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Andrews, TX (Big 2 News) - Lea County Sheriffs Deputies worked alongside Andrews County Sheriffs Deputies to put Javier Gomez behind bars Wednesday afternoon.

Andrews County officials say that around 3:30 pm on January 29, they got a call from Lea County law enforcement that a high speed chase was about to cross state lines on SR-176.

Lea County officials were chasing Javier Gomez, who was allegedly in a stolen pick up truck.

Twice he avoided road spikes laid out by Lea County law enforcement to try to stop the vehicle.

Ultimately, Andrews County officials executed what's called a "PIT" maneuver one quarter mile west of Loop 1910 in Andrews County, which was successful, allowing Lea County to take Gomez into custody.

He is being charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest, two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
