A new multi-state Volunteer of the Year Award goes to a West Texan!
ODESSA, TX (LOCAL BIG 2 NEWS) -- A new multi-state Volunteer of the Year Award goes to a West Texan!

Odessan Kris crow received the Cornerstone Credit Union League's first Volunteer of the Year Award. The League is made up of credit unions from across Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Southwest 66 Credit Union snapped this picture and hosted the awards ceremony Monday night to honor Crow, who serves on their board.

Kriston Crow it the first person in Ector and Midland County to receive the prestigious Volunteer of the Year award, sponsored by Cornerstone Credit Union League formed by the states of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Southwest 66 Credit Union was the host of an award ceremony in honor of this achievement on Monday June 23rd. We were honored with the presence of Mayor David Turner, State Representative Brooks Landgraf, Lauren Bradford from Senator Seliger’s office, Corbette Padilla from Congressman Mike Conaway’s office, Bob Gallman COO of Cornerstone Credit Union League and many others.

Lauren Bradford, from Senator Seliger’s Office, presented a flag flown over the states capital in Kris’s honor. Corbette Padilla, from Congressman Mike Conaway’s office, presented a flag flown over the U.S. capital in Kris’s honor. State Representative Brooks Landgraf presented a legislative resolution on behalf of State Representative Tryon Lewis.

"This is no small feat. Each year we solicit names of people who have given a lot that have gone beyond what we normally would expect from a volunteer. And we received many such applications. This year the competition was good but the decision was easy. Mr. Crow you have done a phenomenal job in serving the credit union, serving the community and making sure you have the team in place to support the staff and all of their dreams." Said Dick Ensweiler, CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League.

Kriston Crow has:
•Served as chairman of the board for several years and his leadership has completely changed the culture of both the Board and Southwest 66 Credit Union
•Through his visionary leadership, not only has the credit union turned around, it has flourished, achieving record growth and financial success in 2012, and then again in 2013
•Kris has developed a reputation as the credit union “whisperer”. He has saved two credit union from disaster and turned them around
•Kris brought the prestigious “Juntos Avanzamos designation to Southwest 66 – the first Credit Union to receive this honor in West Texas –
•He was the catalyst in bringing the first CUSO to West Texas
•He truly lives the motto “people helping people”
•He serves on several boards
