ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- The Odessa YMCA cut the ribbon Tuesday on its new Nick Williams Aquatic Center.

“The pool perfectly represents the Odessa Family YMCA. It serves everyone: parent, individual, child, and senior. Everyone in our community can come and enjoy," Odessa Family YMCA Board of Directors President, Ryan George, was quoted in a YMCA release .

The facility offers a range of water activities such as: aerobic classes, arthritis classes, swim lessons, open swimming and more. It also has special amenities for children, like a frog slide and a cascade of shooting water.

It's named for long-time Y member Nick Williams, who passed away in March from a rare lung disease.

"Nick would've loved this swimming pool -- he was an avid swimmer his whole life,” said Brian Whytlaw, Nick Williams's Stepson.
