Odessa & Midland See Increases with Aug. Sales Tax Revenue

The state cuts its monthly sales tax checks this week and both Midland and Odessa see increases.
MIDLAND/ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- The state cuts its monthly sales tax checks this week and both Midland and Odessa see increases.

The City of Midland pulled in $4,104,933 with its July check.

The city reports that's a 12.2% increase over last year's July check.

The Tall City also adds its year-to-date total sales tax revenue for the current fiscal year is up 12.37 percent, or a $4,371,068 increase, from last year's.

The City of Odessa raked in $4,080,402.86 in with its July check.

Odessa says this reflects a 8.97% increase over August 2013.

Odessa officials add that the year-to-date total sales tax revenue for this fiscal year is up is up 22.23% or, a $5,864,622.20 increase, over last year’s.
