Odessa Encourages Residents to Sign Up For Mass Messaging System

The City of Odessa is asking you to sign up for its automated communication system.
ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- The City of Odessa is asking you to sign up for its automated communication system before it conducts a city-wide test next week.

Odessa and Ector County (along with Andrews, Crane, Howard and Upton Counties) are part of the West Texas Regional Communication System.

By signing up with mass notification registry, you can receive emails, text messages or phone calls about emergency alerts and community happenings.

"The regional communications system is a great tool to provide important information to citizens and in a way they choose is best for them," City Manager Richard Morton stated in a news release.

Odessa officials plan to test the system next Wednesday, August 27.
