Occidental Petroleum Breaks Ground on New Permian Basin Office Complexidland

Occidental Petroleum, or Oxy, broke ground at the site of its future building in Midland.
MIDLAND, TX (Local Big 2 News) - Occidental Petroleum, known as Oxy, broke ground on its new Permian Basin office complex in Midland on Tuesday.

Governor Rick Perry served as the keynote speaker at the groundbreaking ceremony. He then joined Midland Mayor Jerry Morales and other community leaders to help ceremoniously turn the first dirt on the project.

The new facility will be located on the 6000 block of Deauville.

The company says the new facility will be 212,000 sq. ft. large and will house about 600 employees.

The construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2015.
