UPDATE: Man Killed in Early Morning Odessa Crash

A man is dead after officials say he ran a red light at the intersection of Maple Ave. and Tanglewood Lane early Saturday morning.
UPDATE -- Odessa Police release the name of the victim:

"The decedent has been identified as Daniel Trevizo Jr., 26 years of age, of San Elizario, Texas. Next of kin has been notified and no charges will be filed."


ODESSA, TX, (Local Big 2 News) - A man is dead tonight following an early morning crash in Odessa at the intersection of Tanglewood Ln. and Maple Ave. in Odessa. 

Officials say he was driving a 2009 Ford Mustang, and ran a red light at 1:15 am Saturday.  Investigators say he struck a Chevrolet Silverado, causing him to lose control, veering across the street and striking the Antioch Christian Church sign.  

Police have not yet notified next of kin in this case.

DATE/TIME REPORTED: July 5, 2014 at approximately 0115 hours
LOCATION: Tanglewood and Maple


SUMMARY:

On July 5, 2014 at approximately 0115 hours, the Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to Tanglewood and Maple in reference to a major crash.

Investigation revealed that a red Ford Mustang, being operated by Trevizo, was traveling westbound on Maple and ran a red light at Tanglewood. The Mustang collided with a black Dodge truck that was traveling southbound on Tanglewood.

Trevizo was the only occupant of the Mustang and none of the occupants from the truck were injured.
