Odessa, TX (Local Big 2 News) - Rabbi Jordan Parr was hired as a part-time rabbi at Temple Beth El in Odessa.

Parr tells me the on-going situation in Gaza unnecessary.

"There was no political reason for it, there was no you know, there was no provocation. Obviously relations were not good politically, but there was no military reason for it," Parr said.

He says the feeling amongst the Jewish community in the United States is an uneasy one.

Parr says there is a tremendous amount of concern and anger, adding those in the Jewish community are upset the situation has come to this point.

"The rockets started flying from Gaza and Israel retaliated and it just spiraled totally out of control," Parr said.

Parr uses the gathering of Palestinians and Israelis coming together Wednesday as an example to learn from.

He mentions two mothers of an Israeli and Palestinian boy who were killed during the attacks.

"The two mothers sat down and broke their fast together as a sign of peace. I think that says it all," Parr said.

Both Israelis and Muslims broke their fast together.

"If they can overcome their horrible loss, I think we should learn from them," Parr said.
