Funnel Cakes, Ferris Wheels and Furry Friends... It's Time For The Midland County Fair

The 5th Annual Midland County Fair starts Thursday!
MIDLAND, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- The 5th annual Midland County Fair starts Thursday. It guarantees cotton candy, lots of excited kids and more importantly funnel cake.

Funnel cakes, ferris wheels and furry friends.

Everything you can imagine, it's here," said Midland County Fair Executive Director Tammy Dooley.

At the Midland County Fair.

"Come on, come play, come play," said volunteer Marysol Aburto.

It's going on it's fifth year.

"We started the fair five years ago, and this is a big anniversary for us," said Dooley.

Fair Director Tammy Dooley tells me excitement is an understatement.

"Everybody's thrilled and we're expecting huge crowds," said Dooley.

"It's hectic, but it's a good hectic," said Dooley.

Hectic prep work, which started months in advance.

"It takes a full year of preparation," said Dooley.

Volunteers like Marysol Aburto puts the finishing touches on her game tent.

"It's a little hard, too much hot," said Aburto.

But she says friendly faces make it worth it.

"The customer, I like the people, it's exciting," said Aburto.

People of all ages.

"Whether you're one of the small kids or one of the big kids," said Fair Entertainment Director John Wojtkun.

And even though people love pretty much everything at the fair, there is one thing kids and adults just can't get enough of.

"The petting zoo, everybody wants to come out and show their kids baby chicks and little calves and baby horses," said Dooley.
