Food 2 Kids Packs Snack Meals Every Other Wednesday

Hungry children in the Ector County Independent School district are getting the food they need.
Ector County, TX (Big 2 News) - Hungry children in the Ector County Independent School District are getting the food they need.

Organizers tell us Food 2 Kids feeds nearly 2,000 kids a week across a number of ECISD campuses.

Food 2 Kids is a program of the Junior League of Odessa in partnership with the West Texas Food Bank. It provides children who don't receive regular meals over the weekend a meal bag.

"We set up the assembly line and just move the line across as smoothly as possible," explained volunteer Scott Sibert.

All the food given to the children is non-perishable and can include snacks like pudding, fruit or crackers.

"I think it's a fantastic thing. It's very special that we're able to come here and join hands and make a difference," said volunteer Kitty Singh.

Volunteers meet every other Wednesday to line up paper bags, fill them with food and pack them up to be sent off to schools.

"I'm very thankful that I get to give back to our community this way by just coming here every other Wednesday and putting in an hours worth of time," Singh said.

Anyone of any age is welcome to volunteer to help Food 2 Kids complete its mission of feeding every hungry child in Ector County.
