Odessa fire crews responded to a structure fire around 10:45 Tuesday morning in the 1600 block of North Lincoln.

The initial call was made by Carlos Reyes, he was out watering flowers on his property when he noticed smoke coming from the storage shed.
A few moments after noticing the smoke, the door to the shed exploded, that's when Reyes ran for cover and called 911.

"I took off. I told them to hurry up the door just blew up," Reyes said.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire in about 15 minutes, but the storage unit was completely destroyed.
The fire destroyed thousands of dollars worth of items including motorcycles, an RV and satellite equipment.

Currently, Reyes is studying to be a deacon in his church, among the items lost in the fire were study materials and donation items for the congregation.

"The good thing about it, nobody's injured these are just material things and they can be replaced," Reyes said.

Odessa Fire Department is still investigating the fire, the exact cause has yet to be determined.
