More then $200,000 in grant money is being awarded to Ector County ISD Teachers.
ODESSA, TX (Big 2 News) -- More then $200,000 in grant money is being awarded to Ector County ISD Teachers.

It's all part of the Education Foundation of Odessa's annual grant giveaway.

Here are the full details from the Education Foundation:

The Education Foundation of Odessa will visit 27 ECISD campuses/departments, unannounced, to award 79 innovative grant proposals totaling more than $237,000. The check presentations will be on Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8 th from 12:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. and will  begin at the ECISD Administration Building (802 N. Sam Houston) each day.

A list of grants will be provided to the media each day at the Administration Building.

Each year, teachers, principals, and administrators from across the district submit proposals to the Education Foundation. A committee made up of Foundation board members reviews each grant and comes to a consensus on which projects to fund. Grants are evaluated on their innovation, creativity, student need being addressed, sustainability and content. The Grants Committee received 172 proposals for review this year and is elated to award 79 outstanding proposals!

Each grant writer is notified of their success when Education Foundation board members and volunteers enter their classrooms carrying BIG checks, banging tambourines, and providing a positive disruption to the normal daily routine.

The Education Foundation continues its commitment to partner with ECISD and other groups to live out its mission in being a catalyst for opportunity through education. It commits itself in getting ECISD students work-ready, college-ready…WORLD READY.
