Early 4TH of July Celebrations in Midland

The city of Midland began their Independence Day celebrations early Friday morning with a run and a children’s parade.

This year the city added a The Inaugural Freedom Run, a 5K and 10K run, to their Star-Spangled Salute celebrations.

“I love America and I just wanted to be patriotic and just be proud that I'm American,” said Midland resident Tarah Judkins, who participated in the run.

And she wasn’t the only patriotic one. Hundreds showed up wearing red, white and blue to participate in the run.

“My dad and I run so it's great to do it as a family and then also great to see this turnout celebrating our freedoms,” Judkins said.

Following the run, families gathered for the 52nd Annual Children's Sidewalk Parade.

Children of all ages decorated their bikes or wagons with the American flag and participated in the parade.

“I really appreciate the city doing this and then look at all the little ones how they tuned out, how it turned out,” Midland resident Freda Wesley said.
