Dust Storm in Amarillo

The dust hit the northern High Plains mid afternoon Tuesday.
A dust storm is blowing across the High Plains, according to our sister station KAMR in Amarillo.

Highway 287 north out of Boise City to Lamar, Colorado, was closed Tuesday because of low visibility, Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

The dust hit the northern High Plains mid afternoon Tuesday and hit Amarillo around 4:30 p.m.

Winds were reaching 45 mph in Amarillo. KAMR's  Chief Meteorologist John Harris said the dust is blowing in from Colorado and Kansas, but that it should subside around midnight Tuesday.
