Bike MS Spin-A-Thon Raises Money & Awareness

A bike blender is one of the key ingredients in the Bike MS Spin-A-Thon.
ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) – A bike blender is one of the key ingredients in the Bike MS Spin-A-Thon.

The event kicked off Thursday at the Odessa Sam's Club.

A second one will be Saturday at the Midland Downtown Farmer’s Market from 8:30AM - 12:30PM.

During the Spin-A-Thon, participants used the bike blender to make smoothies and created spin art on old records.

It's all to raise awareness about the annual money for the National MS Society, which helps patients battling the disease and funds research for a cure.

"We've got some medicine that helps make their lives a whole lot more livable and they're able to get out and do a lot more,” explains Kent Crowell one of the event organizers. “And we're turning the corner with our research money that we raise every year."

The event is also leading up to the 25th annual Bike MS: Cactus and Crude Ride later this month.

The 150-mile, two-day ride starts in Midland on July 19th and ends in Post on July 20th.
