Big Spring, TX (Big 2 News) - Big Spring City Council members came to a unanimous agreement to allow the city to look for ways to find and approve infrastructure to the city's sewer lines.

The city has also been working on a comprehensive 30 year plan.

According to Johnny Womack, public works director for the City of Big Spring, the plan includes feedback from not just city officials, but from the public as well.

"We'd like to get this plan to council, planning and zoning for them to review and okay it and approve it and once it's approved, you know then, 90 day moratorium just limits what can be done while were in that process," Womack said.

Here's a map of the potential plan to add a sewer line where none exists today. According to Womack, the sewer line could go from the north side under the interstate and run through the South side of the city.

Womack tells me it's prime property for development that can include anything from motels, restaurants and housing. And it's not the building of the development that will take time.

"We can do that in approximately three months. That's the easy thing the hard thing is how do we pay for it," Womack said.

Womack says it's a plan the city's been working on for nine months. And the approximate cost for the sewer line would be $1.7 million dollars.

"Were not stopping anything. We want big spring to grow," Womack said.
