Midland High went 5-5 last year, and 4-4 in district. But the mindset this year speaks volumes.

"To prove everybody wrong. They have us last in district. We are going to prove a point and come out fast and prove a statement and go to state this year," said senior linebacker Emilio Solis.

Coach Yenzer points to this side of the ball as the catalyst for success.

"Our safeties. Our dogs what we call our strong safeties. Outside linebackers some people call them that's an experienced group as well so I would say defensively," said Yenzer.

So what makes this 2014 bulldog team different from those in the past?

"Most of all our seniors have really made an investment but outside the realm of football I really believe is what allows you to win games," said Yenzer.

The brotherhood factors in to how well Midland High performs.

"They all like each other they hang out so we'll see how that translates as the season goes on," said Yenzer.
