Midland Police have arrested at 17-year-old girl for the hit-and-run accident that happened Friday.
MIDLAND, TX (BIG 2 NEWS) -- Midland Police have arrested at 17-year-old girl for the hit-and-run accident that happened Friday.

Here's the full release from Midland officials:

Kayleigh Nicole Paulk, 17, of Midland, was arrested on Tuesday for failure to stop and render aid in an accident involving serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony, in connection with an April 4 accident involving a motorcycle.

Midland Police and Fire Departments were called out to the motorcycle accident near Midkiff Road and Shandon Avenue at approximately 8:51 p.m. on April 4. William Christopher Gandy, 30, had been stopped on a Harley Davidson motorcycle in the northbound left turn lane at Midkiff Road and was waiting for traffic to pass when a southbound maroon 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Paulk veered from the inside lane into the turning lane, striking Gandy. Paulk continued southbound on Midkiff Road and fled the scene.

Gandy was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

Midland police were contacted by a witness on the Saturday following the accident with information that led to the location of the Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle displayed fresh damage consistent with how the accident was reported to have occurred and contained other items that were considered evidence in the investigation. Paulk was identified as the driver and was arrested on Tuesday.

A distraction in the vehicle is being considered a possible factor in the accident at this time; speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
