They may have missed playoffs by one game, but Permian's efforts were not forgotten.
Especially Jordan Williams, who was selected to the all-state team last month.
And she did not see it coming.
"I was like, 'What? Is this real?' But yeah I really didn't believe it,” said Williams.
But it shouldn't have come as a surprise, as the junior was an offensive catalyst for the MOJO this season.
"She led us in kills,” said Permian head coach Gillian Danley, “and she has an amazing vertical that allows her to see that floor and find ways to put the ball down."
She also does her part on defense.
"She has an innate sense,” said Danley. “She can read the other teams hitters very well and really focus where the ball is going to be played."
And although it still seems surreal to her, Williams is another testament to that old saying.
"I work... well I try to work really hard and just to finally have it payoff is just a really big achievement,” she said.
